Anderlecht punished for pitch invasion

KSK Beveren were awarded a 5-0 win over RSC Anderlecht after crowd trouble ruined their last game of the season.

The Belgian Football Association has handed KSK Beveren a 5-0 win against RSC Anderlecht, and fined the Brussels club, after the final match of the season at the Freethiel stadium was abandoned because of crowd trouble.

Pitch invasion
Around 300 Anderlecht supporters invaded the pitch with Beveren leading 3-0 in the second half, causing the game to be called off. The visiting team have been fined €200, even though there was no police presence at Beveren's ground.

FA requirements
"We do all we can to prevent such problems," an Anderlecht spokesman said. "All our supporters gave their identities before travelling to Beveren and we had spotters with us from our local police as well as our own, which is more than the Belgian FA normally asks for."
