Espanyol win Bastía race

RCD Espanyol coach Javier Clemente has made Argentinian Adrián Bastía his fourth new signing.

RCD Espanyol have signed midfield player Adrián Bastía from Argentina's Racing Club Avellaneda.

Loan player
Espanyol have paid an initial €400,000 for the player, who will spend next season on loan at the Montjuic stadium. However, the Catalan club have the option of a permanent €2m deal which they will be able to exercise during the January 2004 transfer window.

Fourth addition
Bastía, an Argentinian title winner with Racing Club in 2001, will be unveiled by Espanyol next week. According to the club's coach Javier Clemente, he will help "make the team more powerful, more competitive". The 24-year-old will link up with three other new recruits in goalkeeper Erwin Lemmens, defender Pierre Womé and midfield player Tayfun Korkut.
