Reghecampf double
Aachen, the last side to beat Bayern in the competition back in the 2003/04 quarter-finals, raced into a 3-0 first-half lead with two goals from Laurentiu Reghecampf and one from Marius Ebbers. Lukas Podolski and Mark van Bommel struck back for Bayern in the second half but Jan Schlaudraff - who is currently in negotiations with a view to joining Bayern in January - sealed Aachen's triumph in the last minute.
Wolfsburg progress
In the night's other games, Wolfsburg beat SpVgg Greuther Fürth 3-1 while top-tier rivals Hannover 96 joined them in the last eight with a 1-0 win against MSV Duisburg. Kickers Offenbach won the all-second division battle with Wacker Burghausen 2-1. VfB Stuttgart, Hertha BSC Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FC Nürnberg booked their places in the last eight on Tuesday. The quarter-finals will be played on 27/28 February.
