Bohemian FC responded well to last week's FAI Cup exit with a 4-0 victory over Bray Wanderers FC.

Bohemian FC responded well to last weekend's FAI Cup elimination to extend their lead at the top of the table with a comfortable 4-0 victory over struggling Bray Wanderers FC at the weekend.

Crowe hat-trick
Glenn Crowe put the league leaders in front after 36 seconds, converting a pass from Fergal Harkin. Paul Keegan added a second against his former club 20 minutes later, and then created the third for Crowe shortly before half-time. Crowe completed his hat-trick seven minutes into the second half, rounding Bray goalkeeper Matt Gregg to put the result beyond all doubt. Teenager John Flood missed a penalty for Bray.

No goals at Brandywell
Derry City FC and Cork City FC earlier played out a 0-0 draw at the Brandywell, while rivals St Patrick's Athletic FC and Shelbourne FC drew 2-2 in Richmond Park on Friday evening.

Shelbourne make point
Paul Marney put St Patrick's in front with a long range effort midway through the first half, but Stephen Geogeghan equalised for Shelbourne within a minute. Colm Foley outjumped Shelbourne goalkeeper Chris Bennion to head home shortly into the second half, but Geogeghan struck again from close range with four minutes to go to give Shelbourne a richly deserved equaliser.

Rovers on a roll
Shamrock Rovers FC continued their recent good form, with a vital 2-1 win victory away to bottom side University College Dublin FC at Belfield on Friday. Noel Hunt opened the scoring for Rovers after 26 minutes, and his strike partner Tony Grant looked to have wrapped up the points with his 77th-minute goal. However, Alan McNally scored after 89 minutes to bring UCD back into the game, and the same player could have salvaged a point for the hosts when his injury-time header came back off the crossbar.

Penalty for Longford
In the weekend's other game, a penalty from Barry Ferguson ten minutes from time gave Longford Town FC a deserved 1-0 win against Drogheda United FC. Longford had nine points deducted during the week due to a registration error - without the points deduction they would be in second position.
