Women's EURO Fantasy Football: Scout squad for Matchday 2

France, Germany, Italy and Spain all provide three players for the Scout's squad for the second round of UEFA Women's EURO group games.

Women's EURO Fantasy Football: Scout squad for Matchday 2

The Scout has picked a squad heavily based around four teams for the second set of group games on Women's EURO Fantasy, presented by AXA.

After Spain's 5-0 opening victory, Mariona Caldentey heads a three-strong contingent for the world champions on Matchday 2, when Klara Bühl is one of three Germany representatives, Grace Geyoro leads the France selections and Cristiana Girelli spearheads the Italy picks.

Goalkeepers

The two goalkeepers selected both kept a clean sheet on Matchday 1. Italy's Laura Giuliani earned six points from the opening 1-0 win against Belgium and next faces a Portugal side who have not scored in their last four matches – the Azzurre, in contrast, have three clean sheets in the last four.

Ann-Katrin Berger also scored six points in her first fixture as part of a Germany side that beat debutants Poland 2-0; Denmark are the next opponents for a team that has four clean sheets in five games, conceding only one goal in that sequence.

Defenders

The respective defensive records of Italy and Germany, and their Matchday 2 fixtures, mean both are also represented among the five defenders. Lisa Boattin delivered seven points on Matchday 1 and, at only 3% selection, represents a differential route into the Italy defence; with Giulia Gwinn having gone off injured against Poland, Rebecca Knaak is the Germany pick as she looks to add to her opening score of eight points.

At the other end of the popularity scale, Sakina Karchaoui is in 45% of teams as it stands ahead of France's Matchday 2 meeting with Wales. Ona Batlle scored seven points as Spain eased past Portugal 5-0 in their first fixture and is in 26% of teams while Nathalie Björn went one better with eight points from Sweden's 1-0 defeat of Denmark – and is included in more than 50% of Fantasy squads.

Midfielders

Midfield includes two players who scored heavily on Matchday 1 – Mariona Caldentey and Filippa Angeldahl. The former provided two assists on her way to 11 points in Spain's win against Portugal; the Sweden midfielder went one better, the only goal and the Player of the Match award against Denmark giving her 12 points.

Klara Bühl managed only three points from Germany's win against Poland while Frida Maanum took two as Norway came from behind to beat hosts Switzerland, but with Germany having scored 28 goals in their seven fixtures in 2025 and Norway looking to make it two Group A wins from two, the Scout keeps faith with both. Grace Geyoro is the France midfield pick for their game against Wales having scored in three of their four matches preceding the finals.

Forwards

The three forward players come from Italy, Spain and France, for whom Marie-Antoinette Katoto is preferred to Kadidiatou Diani for the team to face Wales. Cristiana Girelli will look to add to her 58 international goals as Italy take on a Portugal side that have shipped 25 in their last six matches.

As ever, Spain offer a number of attacking options, Esther González leading the way on Matchday 1 with ten points thanks to two goals. Salma Paralluelo is favoured for the game against Belgium thanks to 14 goals in 40 international appearances that include a hat-trick in a 7-0 qualifying win against Belgium.
