Lucien Favre has agreed a two-year contract to coach FC Zürich from next season.
The 46-year-old has been out of work for a year since being sacked by Servette FC. He will replace Georges Bregy, who was dismissed by Zürich in March after a disappointing run of results.
Favre, who is also former Servette player, was capped 24 times by Switzerland. His previous successes as a coach include winning the Swiss Cup with Servette in 2001 and taking them to the UEFA Cup fourth round the following year.
