Teteks hold on to lift Macedonian Cup

FK Teteks will make their European debut next season after winning the national cup in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia for the first time with a 3-2 win against FK Rabotnicki.

FK Teteks claimed the Macedonian Cup for the first time after winning the showpiece 3-2 against FK Rabotnicki.

All five goals came in the second half and Teteks looked to be cruising to their maiden success in the competition after opening up a 3-0 lead going into the last quarter of the contest. Rabotnicki fought back and there was only one goal in it during the final seven minutes, but Teteks held on to pick up the cup and secure European football for the first time in their history.

Teteks were the better side in the first half, although Rabotnicki had the first glimpse of goal when Vladimir Tunevski shot was saved by Marko Jovanovski. Genc Iseni then missed an open goal for Teteks, but in the 47th minute, his side did take the lead. Captain Srgjan Zaharievski was the man to break the deadlock, converting a penalty after Rabotnicki midfielder Fernando Alcantara López handled in the area.

Within two minutes Iseni doubled Teteks' lead and Aleksandar Stojanovski seemed to have wrapped things up a quarter of an hour later. However, Nikola Gligorov brought his team back into the match (69) and then Filip Petkovski set up a grandstand finish. However, the Skopje side could not find an equaliser meaning the celebrations for Teteks could begin.
