Roma stun Inter as Milan close in

AS Roma secured their first Serie A win this term by ending FC Internazionale Milano's unbeaten start via Mirko Vučinić's last-gasp diving header, after AC Milan had beaten Genoa CFC.

Mirko Vučinić's added-time diving header turned the Serie A formbook on its head as AS Roma secured their first win of the season and ended FC Internazionale Milano's unbeaten start.

Inter had the better of the first half at the Stadio Olimpico, Dejan Stanković hitting the bar with the third of three dangerous long-range shots. Esteban Cambiasso sent a header just wide early in the second half and Bogdan Lobonţ then made a fine save from Samuel Eto'o.

But when a 0-0 looked inevitable, Vučinić dived to meet a Daniele De Rossi cross and his header beat Júlio César at the far post to move Roma out of the bottom three. Both AC Chievo Verona and Brescia Calcio could move two points ahead of leaders Inter by respectively defeating SSC Napoli and AS Bari on Sunday.

AC Milan are up to fourth – at least for a day – and within two points of Inter thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimović, who was set up by Andrea Pirlo on 49 minutes to secure victory against visiting Genoa CFC. Since his Milan debut on 11 September, the Sweden striker has scored four of his team's five goals.
