Club Brugge snap up Vleminckx from NEC

Club Brugge KV have signed Eredivisie top scorer Björn Vleminckx from NEC Nijmegen for €3.3m, the biggest transfer fee the Dutch club have ever received.

Club Brugge KV have signed Belgian international striker Björn Vleminckx from NEC Nijmegen for €3.3m, the biggest transfer fee the Dutch club have ever received.

The 25-year-old will move in the summer having agreed a contract running until 2016. He has impressed this season for mid-table NEC, topping the Eredivisie scorers' list with 18 goals. The KSK Beveren youth product, who has also played for KV Oostende and KV Mechelen, left Belgium for Nijmegen in 2009.

Vleminckx, whose new side lie fourth in Belgium ahead of the championship play-offs, said: "Club want to become champions again and I also want to play for prizes. The choice was not so hard to make. The whole picture suited me excellently. I will give 200%. I hope to become very important for Club Brugge."
