Miroslav Pelta has been elected as the new president of the Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR). He succeeds Ivan Hašek who stepped down last summer.

The 46-year-old FK Jablonec owner is an experienced football official, who was also general manager of AC Sparta Praha for six years and served on the UEFA Club Competitions Committee from 2000–02. He becomes president in a momentous week for Czech football, with the national team qualifying for next summer's UEFA EURO 2012 final round with a play-off win against Montenegro.
