VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach have entered Germany's winter break lying third in the Bundesliga despite dropping points at home for the first time this term in a 2-2 draw with VfL Wolfsburg.

Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 loss to Hertha BSC Berlin on Saturday opened the door for Mönchengladbach to climb above last season's UEFA Champions League runners-up, but they fell behind on 53 minutes when Diego hit the target for fifth-placed Wolfsburg. The hosts soon responded, however, with Raffael dribbling past two defenders and rifling into the far corner.

Five minutes later, Juan Arango gave Mönchengladbach the lead with a superb free-kick, yet they were denied victory by Bas Dost five minutes from time, the Dutch forward poking in his first goal of the campaign.
