FC Flora Tallinn have claimed the Estonian Super Cup for the eighth time after a late goal from Zakaria Beglarishvili secured a 1-0 victory against reigning champions FC Levadia Tallinn.

Levadia had the better of the first half but the Flora defence, strengthened by Estonian international Tavi Rähn, held firm. It was a more even contest after the interval but clear chances still proved hard to come by, until the 87th minute when Beglarishvili got the better of three Levadia defenders and shot into the top corner to settle the match.

"It was a very hard game – Levadia made our lives very difficult early on, but later we improved our ball control," said victorious Flora coach Norbert Hurt, whose Estonian Cup holders had lost their eight previous competitive meetings with Levadia. "We only finished fourth in the last championship and have not had an easy pre-season, so it was very important for our young team to start the new season in a positive way."

Levadia coach Marko Kristal said: "We lost because we didn't score. We dominated the game, but only goals count."
