Levante UD have filled the void left by departing coach Joaquín Caparrós with the appointment of José Luis Mendilibar for the 2014/15 Liga campaign.

Caparrós's departure to Granada CF paved the way for Mendilibar's arrival at the Estadi Ciutat de València, where the 53-year-old has agreed terms on a one-year contract with the option to extend to a second term.

A former midfielder with CD Logroñes, Sestao SC and SD Lemona, Mendilibar was last in charge at CA Osasuna, where a two-and-a-half year spell ended last September. The Basque tactician – who has also coached SD Eibar, Athletic Club and Real Valladolid CF among others – takes over a Levante side that finished tenth this season.
