Dutch duo return to face Scots

Ruud van Nistelrooij and Clarence Seedorf have been recalled to the Netherlands squad to face Scotland.

Ruud van Nistelrooij and Clarence Seedorf have been recalled to the Netherlands squad to face Scotland in a UEFA EURO 2004™ play-off.

Angry reaction
The Manchester United FC striker was dropped by Dick Advocaat for the final qualifying game against Moldova after reacting angrily to being replaced by Pierre van Hooijodonk in the previous match, a 3-1 defeat by the Czech Republic which meant the Dutch could not qualify automatically for Portugal.

Glasgow first
Van Nistelrooij subsequently apologised and scored twice in front of the watching Advocaat against Rangers FC last week. The Dutch coach has said he will not play Van Nistelrooij and Patrick Kluivert in tandem, making Rafael van der Vaart of AFC Ajax a probable starter alongside the FC Barcelona striker at Hampden Park on Saturday. FC Bayern München's Roy Makaay is also in contention.

Seedorf returns
AC Milan midfield player Seedorf returns to the squad after being overlooked for three matches to replace the injured PSV Eindhoven captain Mark van Bommel. "Seedorf has played well in recent weeks for Milan and deserves his place," said Advocaat. There is also a spot in the 20-man squad for Edgar Davids, although PSV's Arjen Robben misses out. The return match is in Amsterdam on Wednesday 19 November.
