FC Viktoria Plzeň have one foot in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round after winning 4-0 at FC Pyunik in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie.

The Czech titleholders, making their debut in Europe's premier club competition, took just seven minutes to assert their authority through Marek Bakoš. He doubled his personal tally five minutes from half-time to add to captain Pavel Horváth's 28th-minute strike, with Daniel Kolář icing the cake after the interval. The second leg takes place in Plzen on 19 July.

Bakoš made the breakthrough when he headed in Milan Petržela's cross from the right and though Marián Čišovský and Daniel Kolář both spurned fine opportunities, Horváth added a deserved second via a penalty following Taron Voskanyan's handball.

Bakoš followed suit from the spot after Varazdat Haroyan was adjudged to have fouled Čišovský. Petr Jiráček failed to convert when presented with a good chance to add a fourth, but Kolář made no such mistake on 72 minutes when he powerfully headed Horváth's delivery past Pyunik keeper Karen Israelyan.
