Aleksandr Kokorin hit a hat-trick as Russia beat Moldova 6-0 in a UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group 6 qualifier.

Russia won 3-0 in Moldova in their qualifying campaign for the 2011 finals, and improved on that tally in Tiraspol. FC Dinamo Moskva striker Kokorin made the breakthrough after 20 minutes with a header from Ibragim Tsallagov's cross from the right, and was on target again with a low shot from Anton Sosnin's incisive pass eight minutes later. PFC Krylya Sovetov Samara midfielder Sosnin then got on the scoresheet with a shot from 20 metres three minutes after the half-hour mark.

Oleg Shatov made it 4-0 from close range on 56 minutes before the dismissals of Alexandru Leu and Arseni Logashov reduced both sides to ten men. Russia recovered quickly, Kokorin completing his treble on 78 minutes from Alan Gatagov's pass. Tsallagov set Shatov up for the sixth two minutes from the end.
