Germany were made to work hard to edge the Faroe Islands 3-2 and record their fourth straight win in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 6.

Horst Hrubesch's team were wobbling after Arni Fredriksberg and Hördur Askham scored either side of Robin Knoche's first-half equaliser. However, Kevin Volland restored parity 16 minutes from time and Amin Younes completed the comeback.

The visitors were dreaming of a famous victory when Fredriksberg looped the ball over Marc-André ter Stegen following a neat move. Their momentum was punctured, though, as Knoche bundled in from close range five minutes before the interval.

The Faroes regained their composure in the second period and restored the lead when Askham volleyed in from inside the area following a long throw-in from the left. More drama was to come, though, as substitute Volland found the net with a precise header before Younes produced an assured finish to round off the scoring. The Faroe Islands remain on one point after five games.
