Savićević re-elected in Montenegro

Dejan Savićević has been unanimously re-elected as president of the Football Federation of Montenegro (FSCG) at the association's assembly.

Savićević was president of the Montenegrin association from 2001 to 2006, when Montenegro was part of Yugoslavia and then Serbia and Montenegro. Over the past seven years, he has been leader of the football community in the young European nation.

"Being a president is a big honour and, at the same time, a big responsibility," said Savićević, the 46-year-old former AC Milan player. "It's an honour because football is by far the most popular sport in Montenegro, and an obligation because there are a lot of challenges ahead of us."

The first challenge is the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign where Montenegro are currently top of Group H, two points clear of England, albeit having played a game more. "Going to the World Cup in Brazil is our dream," added the president. "I hope we can fulfil it."

The assembly also heard about the considerable help being given to Montenegro's football infrastructures by UEFA, in particular through the European body's HatTrick assistance programme. Savićević went on to announce that construction of the Montenegrin House of Football will begin at the end of the year.
