Lietava leads the way

Luxembourg 0-2 Slovakia Two Ivan Lietava goals move Slovakia to within a point of second place in Group 3.

Two goals from Ivan Lietava helped Slovakia reignite their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs by securing a victory against Luxembourg in Group 3.

First-half double
The 21-year-old FK AS Trencín striker found the net on 18 and 43 minutes to put the game beyond the reach of rock-bottom Luxembourg, who had scored just three goals in six games prior to kick-off. The three points moved Slovakia within a point of second-placed Russia, although they have played a game more.

September fixtures
Luxembourg travel to safely-qualified Portugal on 2 September, four days before Slovakia will look to capitalise on a meeting of the top two by securing victory in Latvia.
