Azzurrini urged to show caution

Italy coach Claudio Gentile has warned against complacency after his side were paired with Hungary in the UEFA European U21 Championship play-offs.

Terrific record
The 52-year-old has a terrific record in charge of the Azzurrini, having guided them to success at the 2004 finals in Germany, when they beat Serbia and Montenegro 3-0 to claim the trophy. However, Gentile was still wary before today's ceremony which saw 16 nations divided into eight two-legged ties for a place in next year's finals.

Caution required
As it was, Italy were pitted with the Hungarians, whom they must overcome on 12 and 16 November if they are to defend their title next summer. Speaking to uefa.com, Gentile said: "Of our possible opponents at this draw, Hungary seem not to be the strongest hurdle. But we will have to be very careful against them, as at this level of competition nobody is safe from nasty surprises."

'Good chance'
The 71-times capped Italian international, who made his name with Juventus, added: "Such a double-header in just a few days is always a tricky thing to plan and organise, but I think we have a good chance to beat them. The teams I wanted to avoid most were the Czech Republic, England and Switzerland. From that point of view I can be satisfied with the draw.

First leg key
"Frankly, I don't know much about Hungary. We will try to see some videos of their previous games. The first match will take place in Hungary, and we will have to be careful not to concede any goals while trying to score. So the first match will be of capital importance. The second leg will very much depend on the outcome of the first."
