Austria name Vastic successors

Hans Krankl has added Volkan Kahraman and Muhammet Akagunduz to his latest squad.

Hans Krankl has named his Austria squad for the EURO 2004™ qualifying matches in Belarus on 12 October and the Netherlands in Vienna on 16 October.

Kahraman and Akagunduz called up
Following striker Ivica Vastic's retirement last month, Krankl has added Volkan Kahraman of SV Pasching and SV Ried's Muhammet Akagunduz to the squad that beat Moldova 2-0 in the first qualifing match. Vastic, who has won 40 caps for Austria, joined Nagoya Grampus Eight in the summer and finds travelling between Japan and Europe too taxing, hence his retirement.
