Wales confirm Cardiff friendly

High-flying Wales are to play a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Cardiff next month.

High-flying Wales are to play a friendly international against Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 12 February.

Sold out
Football Assocation of Wales secretary general, David Collins, confirmed the fixture today, adding that the match replaces a proposed squad warm-up in the Spanish resort of La Manga.

Impressive crowd
All 72,500 tickets for Wales's crucial UEFA EURO 2004™ Group 9 qualifier against Azerbaijan in Cardiff on 29 March sold out rapidly in November, and Collins is confident of another impressive crowd for the visit of the Bosnians.

'Feel-good factor'
"The match with Azerbaijan sold out within a day of tickets going on general sale," he said. "There is a feel-good factor around in Wales football at this time. We will get another big gate next month."

Remarkable results
The optimism is a direct result of some remarkable results which have left Wales well placed to qualify for the UEFA European Championship finals in Portugal. Successive victories against Finland, Italy and Azerbaijan form part of an unbeaten run stretching back to September 2001.

Qualifying games
In contrast, Bosnia have no points from their opening two matches in Group 2, having lost at home to Romania and in Norway. They are next in qualifying action against Luxembourg on 29 March, on the same day Wales meet the Azeris.
