Aragonés welcomes Spain relief

National praise
Spain, for whom midfielder Andrés Iniesta struck an 80th-minute winner at a rain-soaked Son Moix Stadium in Mallorca, put on a much-improved display compared to Saturday's hard-fought 2-1 defeat of Denmark - earning positive reviews from the national press. Spanish daily AS wrote: "You have to love this team. Spain fought and won a memorable match as Palma witnessed delirium."

Aragonés belief
Aragonés explained that he never doubted that his players would come through. "I always believed the goal would arrive sooner or later," said the 68-year-old. "Iceland packed the field with ten players at the back and although we were a bit nervous at times, we were on top of things especially in the second half. It's tough to play a team that only defends, but we had our chances and their goalkeeper made some good saves."

Looking forward
The victories against Denmark and Iceland have lifted Spain to third place in Group F with nine points from five matches, four behind leaders Northern Ireland. "Now our future depends on not losing any more games," added Aragonés. "There are a couple of matches ahead that we are capable of winning, and after Sweden's defeat to Northern Ireland, we'll try and get to the top of the group."
