Bale ruled out for Wales

Tottenham Hotspur FC left-back Gareth Bale will miss the conclusion of Wales's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying Group D campaign because of a foot injury.

Tottenham Hotspur FC left-back Gareth Bale will play no part when Wales conclude their UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying campaign against the Republic of Ireland and Germany, having pulled out of John Toshack's squad because of a foot injury.

Bellamy blow
Wales are attempting to bounce back from last month's 3-1 defeat in Cyprus, but will also have to do so without West Ham United FC striker Craig Bellamy who has a groin problem. Swansea City FC midfielder Owain Tudur-Jones returns to the fold after nearly a year out with a knee complaint. "We need to get ourselves sorted out, grit our teeth and go for it," Toshack said before his side's final Group D fixtures. "I would like to think the players realise what an important game the Republic of Ireland will be." Only San Marino are below Wales, who cannot qualify, in Group D.
