Lithuania name depleted squad

Duo return
The good news for Liubinskas is that Aurelijus Skarbalius and Raimondas Zutautas are back in contention. Skarbalius missed the March qualifiers against Germany and Scotland for family reasons but returns despite suffering a facial injury in his club Brøndby IF's recent league game against Viborg FF. Meanwhile Zutautas, currently a free agent after his contract with Maccabi Haifa FC expired, is back to full fitness after also missing the last two qualifiers through injury.

Unavailable players
However Lithuania also have a raft of players unavailable. FC Krylya Sovetov Samara forward Robertas Poskus has not recovered from an injury sustained against Romania and will be missing along with Dunfermline Athletic FC defender Andrius Skerla, who suffered a broken nose in the same game and has not played since.

More absentees
Other absentees include FC Skonto's midfield player Orestas Buitkus who is also injured while FC Dinamo Moskva midfield player Deividas Cesnauskis, FC Shakhtar Donetsk defender Dainius Gleveckas and FC Volgar-Gazprom Astrahan forward Arturas Fomenko are all suspended. Dinamo Moskva's young midfield player Tomas Tamosauskas has been called into the squad for the first time as cover.

'Big problems'
"We have big problems with the squad before the game with Iceland," Liubinskas said. "We have one task and it is to win the match. Our aim is to finish second and coninue fighting for a place in Portugal." The Lithuanians are currently tied with group leaders Germany and Scotland on seven points. However they have played a game more than the Scots and two moe than the Germans.
