Sevilla's Escudé seeks surgical solution

Sevilla FC defender Julien Escudé will undergo surgery in Germany next Tuesday to resolve the problematic groin injury that dogged the 28-year-old last season.

Recurring problem
The seven-times capped French international suffered a recurrence of the injury in a friendly against Ecuador on 27 May, ending any hopes he had of travelling to UEFA EURO 2008™ with Les Bleus. The former AS Cannes, Stade Rennais FC and AFC Ajax player made just 16 Primera División appearances and started four UEFA Champions League games for Sevilla last season, as they finished fifth in the Primera División to earn a place in the 2008/09 UEFA Cup first round.
