Dates set for Regions' Cup finals

The finals of the 2007 UEFA Regions' Cup will be played between 20 and 26 June, with the Bulgarian cities of Sliven and Stara Zagora opening their doors to Europe's top amateur footballers.

Two groups
The eight teams involved will be divided into two groups, with three teams joining hosts South-East Region AMA in Group A, based in Sliven, and four more teams being stationed in Stara Zagora in the other pool. They will all play each other before the group winners meet in the final on 26 June.

Local hero
Sliven, in the south-east of Bulgaria, is a town with a population of 110,000 and is home to second division side OFK Sliven. Sliven's most famous footballing son, former Bulgarian international Yordan Letchkov, is the town's mayor. Bulgaria's sixth largest city, Stara Zagora has a population of over 140,000 and is known locally for its straight streets, linden trees and for poetry. In footballing terms, local side PFC Beroe won the Bulgarian title in 1986, and have some of the most passionate and committed supporters in the A PFG.

Finals contenders
Five teams are already confirmed for the finals along with the hosts: Aveiro AMA (Portugal), Basse-Normandie AMA (France), Tuzla Canton AMA (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Ivan Odessa AMA (Ukraine) and Dolnoslaski AMA (Poland). The final lineup will be known once the Group 4 and 6 mini-tournaments have been played later this month. The draw for the final tournament will be held in Sliven on 17 May.
