Kudyba's relief at precious point

Group B reaction: Dolnoslaski AMA coach Janusz Kudyba said his team were pushed all the way by Aveiro AMA before clinching first place with a draw.

Dolnoslaski AMA are into the UEFA Regions' Cup final as Group B winners but not after being forced on to the back foot by Portugal's Aveiro AMA in a hard-fought 1-1 draw that the Polish team's coach admitted had tested his team to the full. Ivan Odessa AMA of Ukraine finished third ahead of Ticino AMA as they defeated the Swiss representatives 1-0 and victorious coach Serhiy Sukhoruchenko praised his team for picking up their first points.

DOLNOSLASKI AMA (POL) 1-1 AVEIRO AMA (POR)
Janusz Kudyba, Dolnoslaski coach
I thank the Aveiro coach for wishing us good luck in the final. Aveiro played well very well so we were forced to play defensively and on the counterattack. The most difficult thing for us was the technique of the Portuguese players, because they are very good technically, all of them, and that is why we had to use a lot of midfield players to close up the game, to ensure we always had two Polish players on one Portuguese player and cut off their wings.

José Sá, Aveiro coach
It was a tough game. I suppose the team that goes to the final had the luck in the game today. Now in the final we wish the best to the Polish. Our principal difficulty was the height of the Polish players - they have a very tall team. Also the power of the Polish team was too much for us overall. They had many midfielders to frustrate our game. Also they took advantage of our empty spaces when we were going for a second goal.

Serhiy Sukhoruchenko, Ivan Odessa coach
We had a slim chance of getting second place and we attacked and attacked in the first half. Then we became tired but our defence did a very good job - they did not make a single mistake.

Fabrizio Vavassori, Ticino coach
Unfortunately we became tired. It was our third game in five days and everyone was in a bad condition. I tried to change some players but it did not work out. In the previous game [against Dolnoslaski] we had a late chance to go to the final but unfortunately we lost in the last minutes.
