Edwin Camilleri's side won all three of their matches in the tournament in Israel to book a place alongside teams from Germany, Belgium and Northern Ireland in intermediary round Group 1. "I can only praise the way my players approached these three qualifiers in Israel," the coach told uefa.com. "Team spirit and commitment were there for all to see."
Galea goals
Melita FC player Julian Galea struck twice in an opening 2-0 win against Wales's Gwent County AMA, and he struck again as Malta beat hosts Maccabi Zur Salom AMA 1-0 in their second game. A goal from Kane William Micallef and two from Ronnie Celeste earned Malta a 3-0 win in their final game against Southern Bohemia AMA from the Czech Republic.
