Piemonte Valle d'Aosta Amateur of Italy edged out Göteborg Amateur of Sweden 1-0 in their UEFA Regions' Cup intermediate round first-leg tie yesterday.
The Italian amateurs had Raffaele D'Errico to thank for the narrow win, with his 12th-minute goal proving the difference between the sides. It proved a hard-fought game with four players picking up yellow cards; Giovanni Rohdi and Constantino Romeo of Piemonte and Lars Ekdahl and Jimmy Törnquist of Göteborg.
The second leg in Sweden will take place on 9 April when Göteborg will look to overturn the one-goal deficit and join Ticino Amateur, Geyazan Amateur, Ligue du Maine Amateur, Szabolcs Gabona Csoport Amateur, North District Amateur and Württemberg Amateur in the Regions' Cup finals in Germany later this year.
Central Bohemia of the Czech Republic face Spanish side Principado de Asturias Amateur in another two-legged intermediate round tie on 16 April and 7 May to determine the eighth and final qualifier for the finals.
