With S.S. Virtus and SP Tre Fiori leading the two groups in the San Marino League with one match to play in the regular season, all eyes in the oldest Republic in the world were on the amateur UEFA Regions' Cup between 4 and 8 April as the Sanmarinese side failed to reach the finals but still gained valuable experience in the intermediary round.

Fantastic day
After surprisingly winning the their preliminary round group in September, San Marino AMA started with an impressive 1-1 draw against hosts Ligue Atlantique de Football AMA before ending the group with defeats against Portugal's Associação de Futebol de Braga AMA and Spain's Castilla y León AMA. "It was a fantastic game, we reached a great level of football," San Marino coach Pierangelo Manzaroli told uefa.com after the draw against the French amateurs. "We had a few problems with injuries but my players showed a great spirit. They played with hearth earning a fantastic result."

Great experience
San Marino then lost 5-1 against Braga, with Roberto Gatti on target for the second consecutive game, and 4-0 against the Spanish side, which qualified for the finals after holding them to a scoreless draw for the first half. "This group of players achieved important results and I'm really proud of them," Manzaroli said. "I told them to go back to their clubs with heads up and proud of what they did. They have to transfer the same spirit in the Sanmarinese League. It was a great experience for all of them, they have to make the best out of it." After the last game of the regular season this weekend, there will be space for the final phase of the Coppa del Titano before the start of the play-offs for the title.
