The race to the 2009 UEFA Regions' Cup will begin in earnest on 26 February, with the draw for the preliminary and intermediate round in Nyon.

Competition format
UEFA headquarters will be the venue for the draw at 12.30 CET with a record 41 associations having registered teams for Europe's blue riband competition for amateur sides. The tournament will consist of preliminary and intermediate rounds, contested as mini-tournaments, and a final tournament to be hosted by one of the successful qualifiers in June 2009.

Former winners
The definitive draw procedure will be released soon. The upcoming tournament will be the sixth edition since Veneto AMA won the inaugural competition in 1999. Since then, winners have come from the Czech Republic (Central Moravia AMA in 2001), Italy (Piemonte Valle d'Aosta AMA in 2003) and Spain (Basque Country AMA in 2005). Poland's Dolnoslaski AMA won the last edition of the competition in Bulgaria last year.
