Selección Catalana lived up to their pre-tournament billing, with goals from Oscar Muñoz and Franco Sanchirico a measure of their style and stamina in UEFA Regions' Cup Group B.

With searing temperatures for the opening round of fixtures in the world’s top amateur tournament, both sides took their time to build up a head of attacking steam. On the half-hour mark, Selección Catalana's Ramon Rovira marshalled a sharp counterattack, but his final shot was not powerful enough to trouble Isloch goalkeeper Vadim Aleshkovich unduly.

The Belarusian side responded, with Aleksandr Pratskevich's effort from ten metres rattling against the goalpost. Revived by the interval, Toni Almendros's side began to dominate more in the second half, and made the breakthrough on 59 minutes. Isloch offered them a little too much space inside the box, allowing Muñoz to plant a header into the net from Javier Leon's incisive ball from the left.

It was a lead they never looked likely to relinquish as they withstood the heat better, and Franco Sanchirico delivered what proved to be the killer blow from a free-kick which flew into the top corner in the closing stages.
