Württemberg have qualified for their third UEFA Regions' Cup finals after topping intermediary round Group 2 in Slovakia with a perfect record.

The German representatives opened by beating hosts Eastern Slovakia 2-1 and were through with a game to spare following a 7-0 defeat of the Isle of Man. Today's 1-0 win against EWC Scotland was the icing on the cake for Württemberg, who hosted the finals in 2003 and also qualified eight years later.

In the picturesque High Tatras mountains in Poprad, Württemberg's star man Jonas Wiest scored the crucial second in the opener against the home side. Two days later he struck twice, his first a superb solo run and long-distance shot, and made another in beating Isle of Man. As England's entrants had produced an excellent first-half display to win 2-0 against EWC Scotland, who then lost 2-0 to Eastern Slovakia, Württemberg could not be caught.

Still, Martin Kleinschrodt ensured a 1-0 win today against the Scottish representatives, while the hosts took second place by beating Isle of Man 1-0 with a Rudolf Bilas free-kick. Württemberg will be up against Eastern Region of Northern Ireland, Poland’s Dolnośląski and five other teams in next June's finals.

Michael Rentschler, Württemberg coach

We were delighted to be through after matchday two. We are delighted about our performance against the English side. Our guys displayed good football, scored seven goals.

We had already played well already in the game against Eastern Slovakia on Tuesday, a good quality team. Slovakia got back in the game towards the end, but we prevailed. Against Isle of Man it was a different story. We scored nice goals, and after the third goal, the English team fell apart.

I have been part of three Regions' Cup, it is a wonderful competition and we enjoyed it very much in the beautiful surroundings of High Tatras. We are all enjoying the football and looking towards the finals, where we will have highest ambitions.
