• Rodríguez joined top Peruvian club Sporting Cristal at 18 and helped the Lima outfit to victories in the Clausura (spring) championships of 2002, 2004 and 2005.

• Became a Peruvian international in April 2003, competing in 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying and representing his country at the 2007 Copa América in Venezuela.

• Signed for Braga in December 2006 and made his Portuguese Liga debut two months later; scored his first goal for the Arsenalistas on 1 September 2007 in a 2-1 win against CF Estrela da Amadora.

• Gradually established himself as a cornerstone of the Braga defence, making 20 appearances as the club finished runners-up to SL Benfica in 2009/10 Liga.

• Started all four UEFA Champions League qualifying ties in 2010/11 and five of the six group games before starring in Braga's run to the UEFA Europa League final.
