Roger Schmidt, Leverkusen coach
After the match in Monaco we were in a difficult situation. This has changed and we're leading the group. With a win we can secure first place. This is our goal and everything is in our hands. We will try everything to play a top-level match, but it will be difficult as Monaco have only conceded one goal. We've learned from the first match, we've improved and want to show this.

We want to win the game given the fact there is a difference [in terms of the round of 16 draw] in finishing first or second in the group. Nobody should make the mistake of thinking we're already through. We want to become the first team to qualify so the result in Russia has no influence on our match.

We will play as we usually do: offensively. We've done quite well in Europe so far. The teams we play against are not used to our style, so it won't be of any benefit to us if we play another way. This might be the difference again. I like watching our matches. My [performance] analyst just said that we have had the fewest attempts on goal against us in the Champions League. This means we are going the right direction.

Leonardo Jardim, Monaco coach
We have a game plan for this that is not too far off our previous matches. With that we've made it to second place in the group. We will try to minimise the risks, especially switching from defence to attack. Leverkusen put us under pressure on matchday one – we have to be efficient when we have a chance to attack.

We're obviously not very happy about our results in Ligue 1. But tomorrow is the Champions League. We are very motivated to get a result that could leave us poised to qualify for the next stage. We want to have chances to qualify on the last matchday, that's it. I am not thinking about the other group match.
