Solskjær set to miss qualifiers

Manchester United FC's Ole Gunnar Solskjær will miss the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round in August.

Knee injury
The Norwegian international has suffered a recurrence of the knee injury which sidelined him for much of last season. Solskjær looks likely to be out of action for at least five to six weeks, placing his participation in the third-round matches on 10/11 and 24/25 August in severe doubt.

Further treatment
Depending on how he responds to treatment, there remains the risk Solskjær could be sidelined longer, possibly even for up to three or four months, which would threaten his involvement in the group stage of the Champions League, should United qualify. The 31-year-old striker stayed home from United's pre-season tour of the United States for treatment.

Draw approaches
United will learn who their opponents will be in the third qualifying round when the draw takes place in Nyon, Switzerland on 30 July at 12.00CET.
