Kewell sidelined by arthritis

Liverpool FC will be without Harry Kewell for their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie after he was diagnosed with an infection in his foot.

Liverpool FC will be without Australia forward Harry Kewell for their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie over two legs on 8/9 and 22/23 August after he was diagnosed with septic arthritis, which is a bacterial infection, in his left foot.

Full recovery expected
"Harry is currently undergoing treatment in hospital following a surgical procedure," Liverpool said of the 27-year-old, who made three appearances for his country, scoring one goal, at the FIFA World Cup finals before succumbing to the complaint before the second-round tie against Italy. "He is expected to make a complete recovery and should be able to resume training in approximately six weeks' time."
