Jupp Heynckes, Bayern coach
You could see in the opening 25 minutes how difficult it was for us: we scored at just the right time. The whole team played completely flawlessly in the second half, and Franck Ribéry and Bastian Schweinsteiger were simply world class tonight. At the beginning we were very nervous, but the players recovered the situation during the first half. We played against an outstanding team, but we dominated them in the second half. Altogether, it was a very cohesive performance by the team.

Currently, we not only have super team spirit but also play in a very harmonious way, handle space very well and deploy outstanding individual players. We can be very pleased. These were stronger opponents than the teams we have faced in the Bundesliga so far. We could have put the match beyond doubt earlier. Rafinha had a very good game. Toni Kroos put in a great performance. I have analysed how the team played last year. The many goals conceded meant that something was not right. You could see today that tactical discipline in defending was there. We are always capable of scoring.

Roberto Mancini, Manchester City manager
We played very well for 30 minutes but after we conceded the first goal we failed to show enough attention – it was a stupid goal to concede. At this level if you don't run for 90 minutes you have a problem – we didn't work very well after [the initial half-hour].

Tonight we had a problem in this game. Before, we haven't had a problem. Maybe at the moment Bayern are too strong for us, but we have a chance to go through, we still have four games to go and all is not lost. Maybe we can win the second game when they come to Manchester. Maybe we can beat them then.
