FC Dinamo Tblisi have all but confirmed their place in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round after thrashing EB/Streymur 6-1.

It is the first time the Georgian champions have hit six goals in a game in over 40 years of European competition but they owed their crushing margin of victory in the first leg of this second qualifying round tie to a late goal rush as Spanish veteran Xisco joined new boys Elguja Grigalashvili and Vouho (2) in finding the net in the last 20 minutes.

Prior to that, the contest was rather closer-looking. Dušan Uhrin Jr's hosts led 2-1 at half-time thanks to a quick flurry of goals in a three-minute sequence shortly before the break: Ustaritz's header made it 1-0, Darko Glisic headed into his own net for EB/Streymur's equaliser, and then Jaba Dvali restored the lead.

That was that until the 72nd minute when substitute Grigalashvili, recently signed from FC Torpedo Kutaisi, dribbled through to score. Three minutes later the same player set up Xisco to hit his first European goal aged 32, and then Ivorian striker Vouho, the new signing from AEL Limassol FC, took over with his late double.

The second leg in Torshavn takes place next Tuesday but, barring a miracle, Rúni Nolsøe's side will be playing only for pride that night.
