Club Atlético de Madrid defender Diego Godín said "this is my home" after putting pen to paper on a new contract that keeps him at the Vicente Calderón until 2018.

Club Atlético de Madrid defender Diego Godín has signed a new contract until 2018.
"I'm delighted to prolong my stay with the club. This is my home," said the Uruguay centre-back, whose previous deal was due to expire in 2015. "They make me feel great even though I'm away from my country and my friends."
The 27-year-old joined Atlético from Villarreal CF in 2010, racking up 98 Liga appearances and winning the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Copa del Rey.
Rojiblancos sporting director José Luis Caminero added: "Diego is a big player for us. With his decision to renew, along with many others in the summer, we are going to have a strong squad going forward. We have a solid foundation in place."
After striding to the top of UEFA Champions League Group G by winning their opening three fixtures, Diego Simeone's side host FK Austria Wien on Wednesday. Atlético are also well-placed in the Liga, one point behind leaders FC Barcelona.
