UEFA welcomes CAS decision on Dinamo

UEFA welcomes the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirming the sanctions imposed by the UEFA disciplinary bodies on GNK Dinamo Zagreb concerning the discriminatory behaviour of their supporters during the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League.

As a result of discriminatory chanting at two of its 2013/14 UEFA Champions League matches, the Croatian club had firstly been ordered to close the east section of its stadium and, afterwards, to play one match behind closed doors – this sanction was coupled with a €50,000 fine. Both decisions have been now confirmed by the CAS.

The fight against racism is a high priority for UEFA. Europe's football governing body has a zero-tolerance policy towards racism and discrimination on the pitch and in the stands. All forms of racist behaviour are considered serious offences against the disciplinary regulations and are punished with the most severe sanctions. Following the entry into force of the new disciplinary regulations on 1 June 2013, the fight against racist conduct has been stepped up a level – resulting in more severe sanctions to deter such behaviour.
