Alisson keeps Atlético at bay as Roma make their point

Alisson Becker enjoyed a group stage debut to remember as a string of fine saves, most notably denying Antoine Griezmann and Luciano Vietto, earned Roma a point.

Highlights: Roma 0-0 Atlético

Roma and Atlético Madrid cancelled each other out as a pulsating Group C encounter at the Stadio Olimpico somehow ended goalless.

Superb Alisson Becker saves in the first half from Antoine Griezmann and in the second period to deny both Luciano Vietto and Saúl Ñíguez secured an important point for the Giallorossi.

Diego Simeone's men enjoyed more of the posession and the chances but Roma rallied in the closing stages and Atlético were almost hanging on at times. Even so, Jan Oblak in the visitors' net had very little to do.

Considering his stunning stops from Griezmann in the opening 45 minutes and Vietto after the restart were key moments, Alisson Becker can certainly take credit for this solid point for Roma to start their UEFA Champions League campaign. He's certainly won over some of his critics tonight.

Both sides had chances to score, with Atlético arguably shading it, but in the final 20 minutes it seemed like each team was happy to take a draw with tactical changes dictating as much.
