UEFA notes with satisfaction that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has today rejected an application for provisional measures made by FC Salzburg whereby the club sought to be reinstated into the UEFA Champions League.

Salzburg were defeated by Fenerbahçe SK in the third qualifying round of the competition and afterwards lodged a protest, which was rejected both by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body and UEFA Appeals Body on 9 August 2013 and 16 August 2013 respectively.

Following a previous ruling of CAS (18 July 2013), Fenerbahçe have been allowed to participate in the UEFA Champions League, pending a final determination by CAS concerning the involvement of the club in match-fixing.

A decision on the merits in the Fenerbahçe case will be delivered by CAS on Wednesday 28 August.
