Francesco Totti, Roma captain
It's a historic and important goal – especially for the team, more than personally. I am happy with the performance. We came here to play an open game and we played one of the best games Roma have ever produced in Europe.
I am proud to have achieved [the oldest goalscorer record], without any doubt but I hope to carry on and not stop here. I've said before I am 38 but I don't feel it.
This was an important point, although we might even have won. We had five or six good chances to score a goal and get in front, although [we should remember] we were up against a very strong, well-organised team.
Manuel Pellegrini, City manager
A point at home is never good but we played against a very strong team in a good moment. Today we didn't play in the way we normally do to score goals. In the last 20 minutes it was more similar to the team we see here every week, but the draw happened over 90 minutes.
Today was not our day. We didn't play well in the first half – we started well but then we lost the ball too easily. The biggest problem was that we missed many easy passes. It was no surprise to me how strong Roma are, they are in form and have great players. They made it difficult but we could have won it in the last 20 minutes.
It will depend on how we play the next games whether we qualify. One point from six is tough but we're just three points behind Roma. I hope next time in Russia we can win, then we'll see what happens. We will fight to the end to qualify.
Rudi Garcia, Roma coach
We have shown tonight that we are at the top of this group; we've played against the champions of England. Of course it wasn't easy to [go behind early on] but we have a good team and took advantage of our good moments.
We know we can fight for possession, even against such a good team. We have very good players. I know how hard it is to be a goal down after just three minutes. But we saw a calm composed Roma, they took their chance and equalised.
I don't know whether this was the best match we have played. I do know that my team played with personality and a certain amount of confidence. We had everything to win and nothing to lose, and a point here allows us to face any further matches in the group [with confidence].
Talking about the captain [Totti] we can only really say banal things. I took great pleasure in his goal tonight, I saw him attack the goal and then his talent made the difference in front of the keeper. I hope that this is the start of a fantastic story at Roma.
Miralem Pjanić, Roma midfielder
This is maybe the most difficult group in the Champions League [but] we're a good team, we know our quality in our midfield and attack. We played our football as we do every time, be it in the Serie A or the Champions League. Our coach wants us to play in this style and today we played it very well, and could have got the three points.
Fernandinho, City midfielder
In the Champions League it's different. The level is different, we play against big teams from other countries who have a lot of technical players and our team have to learn to play a different way. It is difficult [to qualify] but we will try to do it. It's not impossible, we have a big team and good players. It's very important to beat CSKA now – if we drop points against them it will be very difficult for us.
Martín Demichelis, City defender
We knew that Roma played similarly to us: quick, intelligent football. We now have back-to-back games now against CSKA and we're obliged to win them both. That would give us seven points and then we'd play Bayern and Roma. We might have to win here against Bayern or in Rome, but anything can happen.
