This was a positive result because this is the Champions League, although the idea was to win, but in the second half it was impossible to play the kind of football we are used to. Our players fought hard for the result and, with a lot of mental and physical strength, against the rain. We played well for the first 30 minutes, but Olympiacos also did well in the last quarter of the first period. [Alejandro] Domínguez managed to find space in our defence and they created danger and scored a goal. Olympiacos have good players, but we adapted well in the second half. In the Champions League any team can win home or away and we now have to get a victory in at least one of our away matches.
Míchel, Olympiacos coach
We were better than Benfica. I'm proud of my players. Today they displayed their personality and a tough mentality. They didn't hide and looked Benfica in the eye. They prevailed throughout the match, with or without water on the pitch. All game they were tactically disciplined, solid in defence and had control of the ball. They made the right moves when it was possible to move the ball around and they switched their approach when play became challenging due to the waterlogged pitch. They responded well to all challenges. I'm confident we will advance to the next round.
