Kylian Mbappé (€10.9m) and Erling Haaland (€11.1m) have struck up something of a rivalry recently and the two young superstars were the shining lights when it came to #UCLfantasy forwards on Matchday 7. Mbappé's stunning hat-trick at Barcelona brought him 14 points, while Haaland was not far behind, his two goals and one assist at Sevilla good enough for 12 points. Between them, they have scored 13 UEFA Champions League goals this season and #UCLfantasy managers who missed out on their most recent hauls will be clamouring to bring them in ahead of Matchday 8. However, there are still a plethora of other striking options to consider.
On the topic of rivalries, it's still impossible to ignore Lionel Messi (€12.1m) and Cristiano Ronaldo (€12.1m). Messi scored Barcelona's only goal in the first leg against Paris and he will be their chief threat once more in France, while all-time UEFA Champions League top scorer Ronaldo thrives on occasions such as the one facing Juventus on Matchday 8, with the Italian side looking to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit against Porto.
Not for the first time this season, owners of Robert Lewandowski (€12.1m) were left wanting more than the six Fantasy points he offered in Bayern's 1-4 first-leg victory against Lazio, but keeping faith could still reap rewards. Lewandowski has scored more goals than any other player across the major European leagues this season and with Bayern already having one foot in the quarter-finals, the Pole remains a premium asset.
Those looking to take a chance may want to consider Mbappé's team-mate Neymar (€11.5m), who faces a race to be fit for Paris's second leg, or even Manchester City's Sergio Agüero (€9.8m), who has gradually been working his way back to fitness lately. Both are at serious risk of not starting but there is plenty of potential upside for those #UCLfantasy managers searching for possible differentials. Neymar in particular is one to monitor ahead of the Matchday 8 deadline as, despite featuring in five of Paris's seven European games so far, only Haaland has scored more UEFA Champions League goals than the Brazilian this season.
Targeting sides that need to go on the attack could pay dividends on Matchday 8 and that makes the likes of Sevilla's Youssef En-Nesyri (€7.5m), Atlético's Luis Suárez (€9.8m) and Atalanta's Luis Muriel (€8.2m) interesting options. They could be key if their respective sides are to overturn first-leg deficits and all three currently have an ownership of under 10%.
