Ankle injury sidelines Serginho

AC Milan could be without Serginho for up to ten weeks, ruling the Brazilian out of the rest of the group stage.

AC Milan could be without Serginho for up to ten weeks through injury - ruling him out of the rest of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Scans confirm injury
The Brazillian left-sided player twisted his left ankle and ruptured two ligaments during the 1-1 draw against Juventus FC on Saturday, and magnetic scans on Monday in the orthopaedic unit of the University of Varese confirmed the injury.

Fifth season
Serginho is currently playing his fifth season at the San Siro stadium since joining from São Paulo FC in 1999. Last season the 32-year-old scored three times in 21 Serie A matches and was used as a late substitute in the UEFA Champions League final at Old Trafford against Juventus, scoring in the penalty shoot-out as Milan won 3-2 after a goalless draw. The two teams are level on top of the Italian top flight this season.

Brugge trip
He is now expected to miss the three remaining games in Group H, starting with Tuesday's trip to Club Brugge KV. The European champions are currently level with Brugge - who won 1-0 in Milan on Matchday 3 - two points behind group leaders AFC Ajax and two ahead of RC Celta de Vigo.
