Panathinaikos lose Papadopoulos

Panathinaikos FC will be without striker Dimitrios Papadopoulos for the must-win match at Rangers FC.

Panathinaikos FC will have to defeat Rangers FC to qualify for the UEFA Cup without their leading scorer Dimitrios Papadopoulos after the striker was ruled out for a month with a thigh injury.

Eight goals
The 22-year-old Papadopoulos damaged his thigh in the 3-0 victory against FC PAOK Thessaloniki last Sunday, a win which kept Panathinaikos within two points of leaders Olympiacos CFP. The club confirmed today that Papadopoulos, who has scored eight goals this season, will not play again until early January.

Head-to-head record
With Polish international Emmanuel Olisadebe sidelined until February, coach Itzhak Shum is likely to field either Krzysztof Warzycha or Goran Vlaovic in Glasgow next Tuesday. If the Greens win at Ibrox they will earn a place in the third round of the UEFA Cup by virtue of a superior head-to-head record against the Scottish champions in UEFA Champions League Group E.
