Deadline looms for injury doubts

Arsenal FC striker Thierry Henry is one of several players struggling to regain fitness for Matchday 6.

Arsenal FC striker Thierry Henry is one of a number of players struggling to regain fitness in time for this week's decisive UEFA Champions League Matchday 6 fixtures.

Hamstring problem
Henry sat out of Saturday's 1-1 Premiership draw against Leicester City FC with a strained hamstring and manager Arsène Wenger has revealed his countryman may not be able to return for the visit of FC Lokomotiv Moskva on Wednesday. "There is a big question mark over Thierry Henry," Wenger told the club's official website, adding: "Patrick Vieira is not injured, he was just rested. He will be available."

Inter concern
Group B rivals FC Internazionale are already without Marco Materazzi, Thomas Helveg and Francesco Coco but now have worries over defenders Iván Cordoba and Fabio Cannavaro (muscle injuries) and midfield player Cristiano Zanetti (thigh). The latter is the biggest concern after being injured in Sunday's 2-1 win against AC Perugia. He may not travel to FC Dynamo Kyiv.

Dynamo doubts
Dynamo, meanwhile, have returned to Ukraine from a training camp in Italy, where they defeated Serie B side Salernitana Sport 4-1 in one of two friendly matches. Both Andriy Husin and Argentinian Roberto Nanni will sit out the fixture, while niggling injuries are also likely to rule Serhiy Fedorov and Denys Onischenko out of contention.

Tests due
S.S. Lazio's superb 2-0 weekend victory against Juventus FC looks to have come at a cost. Striker Claudio López twisted his right knee against the Bianconeri, while midfield player Giuliano Giannichedda suffered a left thigh injury. Both will have tests tomorrow which will determine their availability for the must-win Group G game at AC Sparta Praha. On a positive note, Roberto Muzzi should be available despite being forced off in the first half on Saturday.

Galásek worry
AFC Ajax suffered a scare yesterday ahead of their short but vital trip to Club Brugge KV in Group H when Czech international Tomáš Galásek pulled up in training with a thigh problem. Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic sat out the session with a toe injury but medical staff are confident that both men will travel, unlike flu victims Abubakari Yakubu and Viktor Sikora.

Hiddink hopeful
Flu has also had an impact on PSV Eindhoven, with Remco van der Schaaf and Johan Vogel affected before the Group C fixture at RC Deportivo La Coruña on Wednesday. "I hope those two will be back because [Theo] Lucius is suspended on Wednesday," said Guus Hiddink. The coach is also assessing the fitness of Ernest Faber (hamstring), Dennis Rommedahl (shin), Leandro (shin) and André Ooijer (knee).

Tight section
Group A is set for a thrilling conclusion with all four teams in contention. The leaders Celtic FC have lost Jackie McNamara with a shoulder injury sustained in the 2-0 win against Livingston FC for Wednesday's decider at Olympique Lyonnais. The French champions saw goalkeeper Grégory Coupet return against FC Metz on Friday after two games out.

Ice pack
The other fixture pits FC Bayern München, who must win, against RSC Anderlecht. Bayern defender Robert Kovac is unlikely to play after damaging his thigh in the 1-1 draw against SV Werder Bremen. Meanwhile, the Belgian side's goalkeeper, Daniel Zitka, wore an ice pack on his knee after Saturday's 1-0 win at KRC Genk, but is expected to play along with Walter Baseggio, Martin Kolar and Christian Wilhelmsson after the trio sat out training yesterday.
